father and son work on master bedroom together, how to remodel your house with toddlers

Woo-hoo!🎉 Here we are on week 4 of our one room challenge  for our master bedroom makeover!  I can't even believe that we are more than halfway there. If you haven’t seen the recaps from the last few weeks, don’t worry…they’re linked below.

Our room is finally starting to come together. I think a major part to this is because we finally have our new floors. New wood floors not only in our bedroom but our entire upstairs!!! Thank you to our friends at our local Home Depot for all your help, Karen and Scott have been beyond amazing helping us with all our flooring. No joke when I say friends…you guys literally I am pretty sure all of the staff at our Home Depot knows us by now 🙈. Or at least they know Michael…he’s there every day!

This week we were crazy busy. Starting with our built-in and fun new Phillips Hue lighting, re-doing our nightstands, moving onto our flooring, doors, casing and trim. Wow! Clearly lot's has happened over here this week. Not to mention that our little dudes need in on all the action too! Let's walk though some things that we did.

We wanted our nightstands to have an update for the room. We sanded them down to take off the finish making it easy to change the look and feel. Next we lightly spray painted each part of the night stand to help give the rustic look we were looking for with a flat white spray paint, which acted as a primer. Next we feather brushed with Sherwin-Williams Urbane Bronze in a satin finish. We are changing out our hardware on the top drawers to these and refinishing the hardware on the bottom drawers to help give us the look we are looking for.

We added new doors too!. Both sets of doors will be black which I absolutely love. For our closet we ditched the original the bi-fold doors with custom french doors to give the closet a grand entrance. We will be adding this hardware from Anthropologie. We also added modern trim for our baseboards, casing and windows. I cannot wait till we paint these, it's really going to make our room pop!
