lighting : pottery barn | table : crate & barrel

Having a place to eat, gather and spend time together as a family is essential to us. When we bought our home I was so happy to know that we would have a space to accommodate our table for our frequent family meals.

Although our dining space is pretty small it still had lots of work to do. The first step was the lighting fixture. The original one was pretty dated! M & I looked for a long time to find a statement lighting fixture since you can see it from many rooms. This one from Pottery Barn is exactly what we were looking for and we bought it during their buy more save more sale, which is going on right now! Our table is from Crate & Barrel, and we were fortunate enough to receive this as a wedding gift from our friends. Thanks friends!

Now, let's talk about the walls in this room! Boy were they work. Here's how this started...we didn't like the chair rail in the dining room. So of course M took it off right away. To our surprise under the chair rail hid multiple layers of wallpaper! Wallpaper that had layers & layers of paint over the top! At first we thought we could just peel off the layers and smooth the wall for fresh paint. WRONG! The wallpaper just ripped of the layers of paint with it leaving our walls looking awful. So to solve this problem M installed a custom board and batten to give our room an elegant feel!

We set our table for a dinner party with lots of glasses, flowers, and of course wine! M and I love to use our china and waterford glasses as much as we can. We are not the type to save these for special events. Sometimes we even use them for pizza and wine nights! Our feel is we've got them, let's use them.

I've included some before and after pictures for you all to see the progress we've made! Looking forward to sharing more of our house with you all!

much love-
